This oval piece of agate reveals an interior of violet amethyst crystals surrounded by broad beige chalcedony bands. The colour of the amethyst comes from trace amounts of iron, while the polished edge highlights the layered structure of the stone. The piece brings together two minerals in one coherent form.

Agate is hard, but amethyst may lose colour saturation in direct sunlight. The crystals are best cleaned with a dry, soft brush.
