This amethyst geode on a metal stand reveals an oval interior filled with a dense cluster of violet crystals. The colour of amethyst comes from trace amounts of iron which, under natural radiation, give the quartz its deep, saturated hue. The pale, greyish-white chalcedony rim completes the form, while the slender stand emphasises its sculptural character.

Amethyst is a hard stone, but its colour may fade with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. The crystals are best cleaned with a dry, soft brush.
